About the role

The Tourism Administrator is responsible for coordinating and processing sales through the tourism industry and providing assistance to the marketing and ticketing when required.


This is a 2 year fixed term contract.

Key Areas of focus

Ticketing

  • Receive booking requests and manage bookings in Opera Australia's ticketing platform, Tessitura.
  • Ensure product and rates are communicated to agents and travel companies when new events go on sale.
  • Upload and maintain content and pricing for online travel agents (OTA) and channel managers.
  • Complete a regular audit of OTA partners to ensure that Opera Australia material is presented accurately.
  • Ensure tour operators and online travel agents are correctly updated on product availability and inventory.
  • Maintain the tourism database in ticketing system (Tessitura).

Accounts Receivable

  • Ensure that all tourism distributors are contracted and maintain record of terms and conditions.
  • Manage reservations and credit accounts and ensure that all tickets are paid for by the due date.
  • Produce outstanding invoice summary of all product/performances which are now payable.
  • Match up remittances with outstanding invoices in Tessitura and contact agents about discrepancies.

Sales & Marketing

  • Processing large numbers of ticket orders across many Opera Australia events.
  • Assist with ticket coordination of famil events for tourism distributors and representatives.
  • Attend travel trade events in Australia or overseas representing Opera Australia as required.
  • Ensure followup to trade events is completed.
  • Create, update and distribute tourism sales collateral, including rates sheets, fact sheets, and video training.
  • Coordinate delivery of tourism marketing collateral, including brochure distribution, to retail agencies and sales reps.

About you

In addition to this you will have:

  • At least one year of experience in ticketing
  • Skills as a relationship builder with experience managing stakeholders

It is preferable you will have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Marketing, Tourism or a related field
  • At least one year of experience in tourism sales
  • Experience using Tessitura or similar ticketing technology
  • High level IT skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
