Fraser Coast Regional Council currently owns and operate Hervey Bay and Maryborough Airports, which welcome approximately 150,000 passengers per year from domestic and international destinations.

Hervey Bay is located a comfortable three-and-a-half-hour drive or 45-minute flight north of Brisbane, Queensland's capital city.

QantasLink connects Hervey Bay directly to Brisbane with 2-3 flights per day, and Jetstar operates flights four times per week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.


Lady Elliot Island is the southernmost coral cay of the Great Barrier Reef and flights operate twice a day to and from Hervey Bay.


The FCRC team offer a wealth of expertise across all aspects of airport development and operations, asset management, construction, project and business management.

About the Region

The Fraser Coast region is a beautiful and popular destination located in the state of Queensland.

It encompasses a stretch of coastline from the town of Burrum Heads in the south to the city of Hervey Bay in the north and includes the World Heritage-listed Fraser Island.

The region is known for its pristine beaches, stunning natural scenery, and abundant wildlife. Visitors can enjoy a range of outdoor activities such as swimming, surfing, fishing, hiking, and wildlife watching.

The Fraser Coast is also rich in history and culture, with a number of museums and heritage sites that showcase the area's Indigenous and colonial past.


Hervey Bay, the largest city in the region, is a popular spot for whale watching and is home to a vibrant local community with a thriving arts and culture scene.

About the role


Based in Hervey Bay, reporting to the Executive Manager Property and Commercial Services, you will shape and deliver the strategic management, operation, and development of Fraser Coast Airports.

Your primary responsibilities will be to identify new business opportunities, as well as generate alternative income streams as well ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the airports.


You will lead and provide strategic direction for future growth as well as provide expert advice for ongoing development and long-term strategic objectives across the Airport Master Plans.


You will oversee and ensure compliance with aviation laws, and regulations as well as developing and maintaining asset management for all infrastructure across the airport precinct.

With a strong focus on safety, this role will require you to foster a genuine always safe culture.

About you


With ASIC clearance (or eligibility) you will have exceptional people leadership capability which will enable you to deliver high-quality outcomes through a multidisciplinary team.

You will have a proven background and significant experience in legislation, regulations and standards which govern Airport operations as well as a proven background in providing technical advice across airport development, implementation of master plans, development of asset maintenance as well as stakeholder management, financial management, and customer service.

You will also have significant experience within a security-controlled airport management environment.


Your highly developed influencing skills, strategic agility, and track record for consistently delivering results will underpin your success in this role.

A postgraduate degree would be paramount in this role.
