ABOUT THE ROLE:


  • We are seeking a counsellor with a primary focus on bereavement support to clients of Mercy Palliative Care. Bereavement support includes grief counselling, education and group work which is available for up to 13 months after a person has died.
  • Bereavement counselling is provided in the office and via telehealth.
  • The Bereavement Program is part of the Mercy Palliative Care Allied Health Team. There may also be times when counselling provision will be required for palliative care patients and their family/carers.

Summary of the role:


  • Permanent parttime, 24 hours per week
  • Bereavement Counselling
  • Supportive and friendly Allied Health team
  • Available to work at our Sunshine (main), Parkville and Werribee offices

ABOUT YOU:


  • Recognised qualifications in counselling (prefer Bachelor Degree)
  • Specialist bereavement training/qualification highly desirable
  • Experience in grief & loss counselling across a diverse community
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, team orientated with effective communication skills
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence

  • Mercy Palliative Care is a community palliative care service operating in the Western region of Melbourne and provides a holistic multidisciplinary approach to palliative care. We provide psychological and spiritual support, caring for people of all ages with lifelimiting illnesses in their homes as well as complex symptom management. We currently care for over 500 patients across the region in their own homes.
