We are currently seeking a Contracts Manager to join the Australian business based in Perth.


About the Job


Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your role will be to provide contractual expertise to ensure that Technip Energies, Australia projects and proposals are delivered in line with Group contracting principles, commercial opportunities are maximised and internal controls and regulatory requirements are adhered to.

Along with managing a small team of Contracts Engineers you will be responsible for:

Department Head:

  • Allocate and coordinate resources to support projects and proposals.
  • Manage all direct report requirements including timesheet approvals, leave approvals, facilitate regular department meetings, performance management of team members, initiate team building events etc.
  • Manage department budgets to ensure and mitigate cost overrun.
  • Liaise with P&C to initiate and participate in the recruitment process for the department.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and support to Senior Contracts Engineers and Contracts Engineers.

Tendering and Proposals Support:

  • Support the Proposals Team by providing guidance on commercial and contractual models.
  • Support legal with review and clarification on Head Contracts commercial items
  • Advise, coordinate and implement partnering agreements including JV's and Consortium arrangements.
  • Advise on Subcontracting strategies for Project execution including identify potential partnering opportunity.

General Duties:

  • Responsible for the implementation of the Main Contract management processes and performance on Projects.
  • Recommend and implement commercial strategies for Projects to ensure that contracts and commercial risk are identified, evaluated and mitigated.
  • Support Projects to monitor contract baselines to mitigate deviations and increase financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory governance.
  • Oversee the management of the contractual and commercial aspects of subcontracting.
  • Act as a contractual expert in relation to legal, commercial and insurance issues related to subcontractors and suppliers to projects.
  • Support the qualification effort of subcontractors and development subcontracting partnerships.
  • Review and analyse costs, reports and forecasts to identify trends.
  • Provide expert input and advice to complex contracts, as required.

About You
We'd love to hear from you if your profile meets the following requirements:

  • University Degree in Commerce, Law, Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Expert understanding of the principles of contracts law and business ethics and the contractual/commercial principles adopted within the industry.
  • High level of commercial acumen.
  • Demonstratable high level understanding of oil and gas standards and regulations.
  • 10 years working experience in contracts engineering.
  • Significant experience working in the oil and gas industry including upstream, downstream, processing.
  • Strong negotiations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication with proven ability to Manage effectively.
