Our role is to support the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) to meet the Nation's commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community - the people who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime.


About the role


The Health Advice Triage Team Leader is responsible for leading and supporting a small team of Health Advice Triage Officers coordinating requests for clinical advice from DVA business areas.

The Team Leader is accountable for ensuring accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing clinical advice requests to the clinical adviser workforce.


The Health Advice Triage Team Leader will:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day work of the team to ensure effective, efficient processes and a high level of client service to DVA business areas and to the clinical adviser workforce.
  • Manage the staff within the team, including training and developing the performance of the staff and the team.
  • Maintain process documentation, developing and implementing improvements as required. Help to develop program policies, procedures and resources, consulting and communicating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of clinical advice submissions to meet business needs/performance indicators.
  • Manage / respond to feedback regarding the processing of clinical advice requests.
  • Prepare reports for senior management, identifying trends, opportunities for improvement and recommendations.
  • Key point of contact for liaising with business area stakeholders/clinical adviser workforce on submission of clinical advice requests.

About you
We're looking for a Health Advice Triage Team Leader with:

  • At least four years' proven experience working in a health administration role or experience in a health related role (e.g. Allied Health Assistant, ADF medic, paramedic, enrolled nurse).
  • Welldeveloped organisational skills with proven ability to lead a high performing team and manage high volume workloads.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and be proactive.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated experience in the review / development of operational policies and procedures.
  • Good analytical skills to identify business trends and provide recommendations to improve business practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills including sensitivity and judgement in dealing with client related issues
