National Parks and Wildlife Service has a new opportunity for a
Team Leader Field Operations to work as part of the close-knit and high performing team, working across the NPWS Hunter Central Coast Branch.


  • Team Leader Field Operations
  • Grade: Senior Field Supervisor Grade
  • Package includes annual salary, depending on experience ($116,211 to $128,061), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Temporary fulltime position until 1 July 202
  • Located in Nelson Bay.

About the role


As a Team Leader Field Operations, you will manage the planning, development, implementation, management and delivery of approved works, projects and maintenance programs ensuring completion within required deadlines, quality, environmental and construction and safety standards and at or below approved budgets.

You will lead and supervise field staff across a wide geographic area, and co-ordinate works program planning and reporting across the area as well as monitor and report on works program expenditure.


You will work closely with the Area Manager and Team Leader Ranger and be integral in managing day-to-day operational works to ensure the delivery of priority projects and programs.

Through leadership and the fostering of a professional culture you will assist your team in delivering work to a high standard across the Hunter Central Coast Branch.

Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with proven leadership, people management and project management experience and a strong attention to detail will be key to your success in this role.

Together with your excellent planning, prioritisation, safety and construction management skill will help you deliver an extensive annual works program across the region.

With your exemplary communication, collaboration skills and enthusiasm will enable you to thrive and succeed in this diverse, fast-paced role.


Essential requirements

  • Project management skills and experience and the ability to effectively lead teams to ensure high staff performance and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to work with professional and field based staff to develop, implement and monitor programs across a broad geographic area
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise competing demands that involve the planning, management and completion of works programs and construction of park/recreational facilities including capital works programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a fire leadership role and incident control functions or willingness to undertake appropriate training to achieve required capability.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate and driver's licence including fourwheel driving certificate.


Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment) which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (ie moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.

The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.?
