We are currently seeking a
Fire Management Team Member based in the
Mornington Peninsula Shire.

In this role you will assist and provide support to the Team Leader of Fire Management and Second In-Charge Fire Management to carry out fire management works in bushland areas, reserves and open spaces.

You will be capable in assisting with the greater Parks and Roadsides team while understanding the environmental needs on the Mornington Peninsula and the wider community.

This is a permanent full-time role of 38 hours per week and Monday - Friday.
The rate is $25.87 per hour.

What you will be doing:

Assist in the implementation of fire management works for Shire reserves, national parks, crown land, private landholders and other clients, as required
Assist in the planning and reporting of possible future works
Principle work area Fire/Fuel Management
Ensure works are carried out with mínimal disturbance to the environment and disruption to the community.
Communicate and liaise with the client and their customers in a courteous, professional manner
Ability to develop a close rapport with team members and stakeholders alike

About you:

Construction Induction Card (White Card/Red Card)
Current Victorian Drivers Licence (Manual)
Level 2 Workplace First Aid Certification
Level 1 Chainsaw Certificate
Level 1 Wildfire Certificate desirable
Road Traffic Control Certification desirable
Experience (or trade/tertiary qualification) in natural resource/horticulture management or related field
Aptitude for fire management and the environmental industry
Experience in bushland regeneration techniques

Desirable but not essential:

Experience in holistic bushland management and environmental management.
Forklift Licence
Front End Loader Licence
Level 2 Chainsaw Certifications (Fallers)
Fourwheel Drive Certificate
Medium Rigid/Heavy Rigid Truck License
Tractor Operation / Familiarisation
Understanding of natural resource management on the Mornington Peninsula
Farm Chemical Users Certification

You must have the ability to maintain a Defence clearance in order to be eligible for these positions, as well as be able to pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
