The opportunity:


Visy Logistics is a recognised leader in Australian warehousing and freight services with comprehensive and competitive road, rail, and domestic sea freight, intermodal and 3PL capabilities.

We offer genuine end-to-end logistics, taking full advantage of the Visy Group's existing supply chain network.


The State Warehouse Manager will be based at Epping and will lead the safety, service, people, and performance transformation to a Best In Class (BIC) standard over the next - 5 years.

The role requires strong leadership of people and culture, coupled with high technical skills across warehouse systems, processes, and performance, driving cost reductions and improving customer service levels.

Excellent collaborative communicator.


Managing five Visy-operated warehouses (Epping, Reservoir, Coolaroo and western suburbs) and 3PL warehouses, this role has an annual budget of circa $15M/annum and management of 60 plus staff (salary, wage and casual) across 24/7 operations.

Reporting to the State Manager VIC,
key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Maintain work practices and environmental processes in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety and company practices.
  • Adapt service levels from a reactive to a proactively planned outcome with clear accountability coupled with performance tracking of lead and lag measures
  • Manage and improve the service levels provided by the warehouse operations
  • Deal with customer concerns, and operational and quality issues competently and in a timely manner
  • Manage all inventory maximising warehouse capacity and utilisation
  • Control and minimise all related costs with a particular focus on labour efficiency and total workforce productivity
  • With the State Manager, develop budgets for warehouse operations.
  • Develop opportunities to grow the business as well as introduce efficiencies and costsaving initiatives to improve financial performance.
  • Build relationships with immediate team members, peers, business partners and external parties; the incumbent is expected to drive commitment to, and model behaviours consistent with the company's purpose, values, and objectives
  • To identify, attract, retain, and nurture talent through providing support for personal development and succession planning thus ensuring ongoing business continuity and success
  • Participate in problemsolving activities that will deliver continuous improvement of operational performance

What you will bring to the team:

  • More than five years' experience in Warehouse Operations, Multi-site, and "in-house" operations within the Transport & Logistics industry, FMCG, Retail or related field
  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics Management, Supply Chain or similar.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the implications of the legal and regulatory aspects of Road Transport business operations and commercial & contractual practices.
  • Proficient with continuous improvement via using of the latest technologies and business processes (automation, centralisation, and offshoring)
  • Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills with the ability to work well with a range of people and the ability to collaborate across functional areas of the organisation.
  • Experience managing and lead of 50+ team members and 24/7 operations
  • Ability to act and work independently with a mínimal level of management supervision.
  • Strong analytical problemsolving and negotiation skills.
  • SAP system knowledge is highly advantageous
