The Role
The Business Intelligence Officer is accountable under limited direction to coordinate the Business Analysis functions across Army.

They will support the senior leadership through the provision of timely and accurate advice regarding the budgetary and financial management within the work area.

They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in support of Defence's mission and business objectives.

As part of an integrated work team, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Researching, developing and providing clear and accurate advice and support across the business functions of the organization.
  • Developing and maintaining strong connections with the broader Army organization to achieve business outcomes.
  • Evaluating and recommending improvements to within their area of responsibility.

About our Team

11 Brigade Operations (OPS) Team is responsible for managing the raise, train and sustain requirements of the 11th Brigade, directing and monitoring force generation of Units' capabilities.

The OPS team manage resource allocation and expenditure across the Brigade, plan and execute courses and exercises, and manage commitment to known and contingency operations including domestic security and disaster response.

The OPS team prioritise execution of daily operations in accordance with the Brigade Commander's intent and synchronise efforts across staff cells and units.

The duties of an APS5 Business Intelligence Officer occupation in Defence include the following:

  • Provide advice to stakeholders on moderately complex to complex business intelligence activities.
  • Prepare clear work plans, strategies and team goals and identify broader influences that may impact on the team s work objectives.
  • Understand and utilise internal and external professional knowledge and experience to improve work.
  • Research and draw on information from diverse sources to determine what information is important.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members as well as stakeholders, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
  • Design solutions to assess data quality impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
