As part of a recent transformation of our system leadership structure, we have created a Wellbeing Directorate that will develop and execute a range of strategies to respond to the wellbeing and mental health needs of our students.

We are seeking passionate and professional school based Wellbeing Counsellors to join our team.


About the opportunity:

We are seeking collaborative and skilled individuals who will deliver a range of services. You will deliver high level advice and proactivity in the area of supporting learning and teaching. You will work in collaboration with teachers in learning spaces and partner with the leadership team.


More specifically you will:

  • Collaborate with schools and other professionals to promote school wide mental health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Engage with families to support their child and to strengthen homeschool partnerships across different schools
  • Provide individual and group counselling with students as well as working with school and other parts of CEDP in the identification and implementation of reasonable adjustments
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to enhance student support
  • Support leaders and staff to respond effectively to student welfare
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to design personalised plans for students

About you:

To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will demonstrate alignment to the core purpose and values of CEDP along with:

  • Have demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people
  • Experience in counselling children and young people using evidencebased interventions
  • Experience in cognitive, emotional and behavioural assessment of children and young people
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker
  • Be a registered psychologist or a social worker eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Have the capacity to make a significant contribution within schools to matters related to student welfare and wellbeing
  • Demonstrate evidence based professionally informed judgement in dealing with sensitive issues
  • Demonstrate the capacity to engage students, parents and teachers in the counselling process
  • The capability to facilitate parent and caregiver education
  • Be supportive of our Catholic ethos

Qualifications and accreditations:


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers ( AASW) OR general registration as a psychologist with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation
  • Working with Children Check clearance
