An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Advisor to join the business to help deliver a number of major level crossing removal projects in Melbourne's East worth in excess of $300m.
Responsibilities
As an Environmental Advisor you will be responsible for assisting the development and maintenance of the Environmental Management Plan/s, looking after site controls and supporting the integration of sustainability principles and practices on the project.
Responsibilities include;- Assist in the continual improvement and maintenance of the Environmental Management System and site environmental controls.
- Maintain knowledge of the contract including environmental specifications.
- Participates in project risk and opportunity workshops
- Assist in recognising and promoting safe behaviours.
- Promote environmental & sustainability initiatives.
- Undertake site inspections / audits of worksites and subcontractor facilities, as required.
- Participate in incident notifications and investigations, including closeout of actions with the project team and subcontractors.
- Provide training to construction workforce through toolbox talks, prestarts and inductions.
- Undertake environmental monitoring to ensure compliance with Project approvals and licence conditions, including QA/QC, data management and reporting.
- Ensures necessary environmental equipment / supplies / services are identified and available on the project site.
- Support with emergency response requirements where applicable.
- Collate the necessary information required for end of month reporting, including emission data, to meet both Corporate and Client requirements.
Background
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental management techniques relating to the construction industry.
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science / Bachelor of Science or equivalent
- Sound working knowledge of ISO AS/NZS 14001, including auditing requirements
- Understanding of Environmental legislation and statutory approval processes
- Understanding of sustainability principals and rating frameworks
- Sound verbal and written presentation skills.
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound computer literacy skills with a good understanding and proficient in Microsoft Office Software particularly with Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Able to influence and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Efficient time management skills and effective problemsolving ability.
- Able to respond to and prioritise requests and tasks in a calm and efficient manner while maintaining high work standards and attention to detail.
- Selfmotivated individual with a handson attitude.
