The opportunity:


We are looking for an experienced Administration Officer to join our Diabetes and Vascular Medicine lab led by Professor Alicia Jenkins.

This is a diverse and multi-faceted role where you will be responsible for providing outstanding administrative support to Professor Jenkins and her team to ensure a smooth and effective workflow of the across a wide range of clinical, research and departmental responsibilities and commitments.

Professor Jenkins is also Head of the Baker Clinical Research Domain and co-Chair of the Science Faculty.


The successful applicant will be highly motivated, have excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and time management skills and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Key duties:


In this role you will be expected to:

  • Edit and assist with scientific and administrative documents, including researching and collating materials in preparation for various reports, proposals, meetings and projects.
  • Provide high quality administrative support to ensure the successful completion of a wide range of projects.
  • Correspond with stakeholders, assist with diary management, organise meetings and travel booking.
  • Manage relationships with key partners and respond to enquiries from stakeholders effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with account keeping, credit card reconciliations, staff leave and new student processing.
  • Organise events such as conferences and seminars, including providing logístical and secretarial support.
  • Assist with publicationsrelated administration, surveys and newsletters, presentation material, and with media events.


This is a diverse role with wide ranging duties and given the nature of the role flexibility in work arrangements may sometimes be needed.


Skills and experience:


You will have:

  • A science or healthrelated degree or similar qualification and /or extensive experience in a related research administration position.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health or scientific terminology highly desirable.
  • Excellent written communication and editing skills with strong experience preparing and editing documents, writing letters, preparing presentations and documentation layout.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate positively in a team environment.
  • Selfmotivation with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and exercise good judgement in making decisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong planning, time management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy requirements.
