An exciting new position to lead Mercy's Clinical Documentation Improvement Program.

As CDI Lead you will oversee and drive documentation improvement initiatives to ensure best practice, patient safety and appropriate funding.

The position will work closely with clinical staff and provide advice, education and training to achieve optimal documentation for accurate clinical coding.


ABOUT THE ROLE:


  • Permanent full time, based at Werribee Mercy Hospital_ _
  • Classification, Health Information Manager Grade 3 or equivalent
  • New position to Lead CDI Program at Werribee Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospital for Women
  • Two Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) direct reports and supported by the Coding Quality Manager
  • Utilise and adapt Australian first 3M CDI software, CDI Collaborate, to capture and report CDI workflows and impacts
  • Handson role, enabling you to use your expert coding, documentation and Activity Based Funding knowledge
  • Provide coding and funding related education and support to clinical managers and leaders
  • Coordinate and participate in the daily review of inpatient medical records to proactively identify and manage documentation deficiencies
  • Coordinate and deliver education to clinicians and develop resource material to address documentation issues
  • Collaborate with Health Information Services managers and senior coding team on documentation matters impacting the quality and timeliness of coding
  • Recommend form and system improvements to support accurate documentation for coding
  • Recommend coding audits based on documentation issues

ABOUT YOU:


  • Minimum 3 years coding experience across a broad range of specialities or CDIS experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clinicians
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and a passion for documentation improvement to support coding quality
