The Brand Manager is a pivotal role in the Twinings marketing team.

The Brand Manager collaborates broadly across the Twinings business (brand, innovation, connections, finance, sales and category) to deliver against short and long-term brand imperatives and initiatives.


Whilst this role reports to the Marketing Manager, the role takes ownership over a broad range of brand management responsibilities with an impact across the total brand including portfolio management, commercial leadership, innovation projects, analysis and leads key product change initiatives in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition, this role will have a key focus on leading long-term innovation initiatives for the marketing team.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the Marketing Manager in development of the longerterm strategic brand plan for the Twinings portfolio. This role has the opportunity to own components of the longterm strategic plan (5YP) and annual brand plan, and strongly support the development of the overall Twinings portfolio plan.
  • Working closely with the local cross functional team and Team NPD in the UK to deliver NPD and product change initiatives (CPI).
  • Manage as brand lead the development and delivery into market of NPD and CPI.
  • Work closely with the Insights team to undertake the relevant research to validate NPD.
  • Manage communication and collaboration with NPD team Project Managers.
  • Lead all aspects of Gate paper development on key projects ensuring commercial team alignment.
  • Lead the development of new concepts (product format, sensory), exploring Twinings' entry into new categories and channels.
  • Working in collaboration across the sales, finance, category and marketing team, this role will:
  • Oversees the implementation of key NPD into market and customer marketing initiatives in-store including target setting, executional planning and post analysis as required.
  • Motivate and collaborate widely across the commercial team (brand, connections, sales, category, supply and finance) in implementation of plans.
  • Collaborate with the sales and category team to develop compelling customer presentations and engagement tools to support engagement in and commitment towards Twinings plans.
  • Supports the Marketing Manager by leading regular commercial analysis and performance reporting on Australia and New Zealand.
  • Support the MM in commercial leadership of the brand through the IBP process by undertaking relevant performance analysis using internal and external sources of data (eg. Internal financial sales and external scan data).
  • Attend key meetings as required and aligned with the Marketing Manager.
  • Attend the Activity Review and Stage & Gate meetings.
  • Working in close collaboration with the Connections team to:
  • Support the development and implementation of key components of Twinings Masterbrand connections plans (Media, Social, PR, sampling etc) for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Brief connections team on NPD initiatives and work collaboratively to build a connections plan and FAQ.
  • Collaborates widely within the marketing team across brand, innovation, and insights to deliver best in class marketing plans that shift the brand towards achieving its vision.
  • Work with the Twinings Insight team in brand health, creative and media performance analysis and tracking.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:


  • Tertiary Qualification ideally in Marketing or Business Management
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Brand Management, ideally with a strong innovation background
  • Strong track record of marketing within marketingoriented consumer goods organization
  • Experience in leading project teams in a multi brand business environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of marketing strategy and coordination of product launches
  • Sales/Trade Marketing experience within a consumer environment would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of marketing practice, the integration of functions within it and current practice in brand management
  • Enthused to work on both high level strategic projects and also get involved in operational activities
  • Computer literacy skills with ability to utilise Microsoft inclusive of Excel, PowerPoint, MIS systems, preferably IRI/Quantium based
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to motivate and empower others to accomplish business goals
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
