About the RoleThe QEII Emergency Department offers immediate care for all emergency presentations excluding major trauma and obstetrics and consists of 18 acute, 8 Fast Track, and 3 resuscitation bays.
It is responsible for the triage, assessment, immediate treatment and disposition of acutely ill adult and paediatric patients presenting to the hospital.
- Initiate the clinical care of patients in the Emergency Department and ensure appropriate transfer to inpatient care when indicated. Arrange patient management in accordance with the best interests of the patient. Consult with Specialist staff and other Hospital staff as required with respect to patient management and related issues. Escalate to specialists of other craft groups to help expedite better patient care.
- Possess and maintain high level resuscitation skills (including relevant procedures).
