- Crafting and reaching agreements for the provision of energy products and services, such as solar panels, batteries and cleaner/lower carbon energy products to small consumers and business and industrial clients, suppliers, service providers and channel partners that facilitate the products supplied to retail customers.
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive and deep knowledge of assigned client business units and their goals, products, and activities, and with direction, identify and deliver on opportunities to add value.
- Providing high quality legal advice and sound recommendations to enable high quality decision making in assigned client groups.
- Ensure that the services and advice provided by external lawyers is of high quality and commercially focused and represents value for money.
- Help with education and training of company personnel and develop work practices that minimise potential legal and regulatory risk.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating a broad range of contractual documentation.
- Strong consumer law experience, particularly as it applies to marketing campaigns.
- Strong commercial sense and ability to work on novel projects and contractual structures.
- Ability to think strategically, embrace complexity and enjoy constant variety and challenge and an understanding of the need to deliver organisational objectives/value.
- Influencing skills and the ability to use tailored strategies to influence attitudes, behaviour or decision making at all management levels.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to summarise and articulate a view clearly and confidently, adapted to suit the audience.

About the role:
Origin's legal team is responsible for the provision of legal services across all of Origin's diverse activities. We are looking for a lawyer with strong commercial experience to support the Origin retail business, which encompasses retailing of electricity, natural gas and internet to consumers and small business customers, as well as products such as solar, batteries and other home products. This is an opportunity to work in a collegiate environment alongside a talented team of lawyers working on a wide variety of legal matters.
Why the role matters:
You will work together with the Managing Corporate Lawyer for Retail and other legal team members to deliver excellent legal services. You will also provide excellent and client-oriented services to the Origin Retail and Origin Zero business. Providing guidance to business units on various legal areas including energy and telco regulations, consumer laws and general contract law issues. And on small and large customer disputes and operational issues.

What will you bring?
As an Australian qualified and admitted lawyer, you will consider yourself as having excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills. You will also enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter and able to influence effectively. Having some knowledge of the gas, electricity, or telco industry is helpful but not necessary.
