In high growth mode and with a significant pipeline of large-scale CapEx projects across ANZ, our client is the well-established Australian operations a global engineering OEM.

Strong demand for their solutions globally and in the region has allowed them to create a new opportunity for a Melbourne-based HSE Manager.


Reporting the Project Director, the new appointee will successfully implement, maintain and distribute the health, safety and environment plan for a major 4 year EPC project in Victoria, as well as provide remote support for others.

The immediate focus for this role will be the preparation of HSE systems for deployment achieving alignment with main contractor systems, preparation of the on-site team, electrical and mechanical subcontractor system audits and training and the development and oversight of Safework method statements for all on-site activities.


Specifically:

  • Development of Safe Work Method Statements including Work Health Safety assessments and reporting
  • Organization and coordination of company training course on Health, Safety & Security and necessary courses for training of company and subcontractors' personnel
  • Communicate and ensuring that all subcontractors working on behalf of the company comply with the Health, Safety & Environment Plan
  • Have oversight of the Emergency Plan, fire and firstaid equipment and site security
  • Attend weekly coordination meetings with the customer team as required and actively participating in weekly internal Project Core Team Meeting
  • Implement, maintain and distribute the HSE plan
  • Ensure that appropriate site signage is established and maintained
  • Update procedures in line with applicable legislation to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations
  • Execute toolboxtalks and provide other safety training
  • Distribution of the health, safety and environment booklet to all personnel
  • Monitor risk assessments, making sure that the risks are mitigated and making proposals to improve and update the risk assessment
  • Assist in risk assessment of difficult installation activities
  • Check the emergency plan, fire and firstaid equipment and site security
  • Conduct HSE inspections
  • Report on nonconformities regarding health, safety and environment acc. to the applicable NCR procedure ensuring the followup and verifying the efficiency of the corrective and preventive actions
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and hazardous situations to set up preventive actions, communicating and ensuring that all subcontractors meet the HSE requirements.
  • Report to the Project Director on HSE issues
About you

In addition to your degree level qualification in engineering, construction management (or similar), you have a track record of managing robust and compliant HSE processes in large scale integration, construction or industrial EPC projects in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic), & Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 (Vic)


You also have:

  • Flair for and interest in gaining understanding of new technical topics.
  • Demonstrates ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees within a very diverse and international company.
  • Proficiency in time management Attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellence in communication (both verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in handling multiple tasks and work well under pressure sense of both urgency and thoroughness
  • Professional, positive, proactive, and energetic attitude
  • Selfdriven and independent working attitude
  • High degree of computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of project
- and local-specific requirements to health, safety and environment
- (Baggage Handling Systems or intralogistics / warehouse MHS experience is highly regarded but not essential)
