About the Team


The objective of the Transport Services (TS) group within the Department of Transport and Planning is to deliver transport services across all modes that provide a single user interface to the transport network.

Within TS, the Metro Surface Transport (MST) division is comprised of specialist roads, rail and tram related branches.

Within MST, this role sits within the Metro Assets branch, who govern the operational aspects of the Western Roads Upgrade Project Deed that the state holds with the Road Operator.


About the Opportunity


The Team Leader WRU Operations will provide expertise and leadership around asset management issues impacting the planning and delivery of the Private Roads large infrastructure projects across Metropolitan Melbourne.

The role is responsible for providing authoritative advice on a range of asset management matters whilst working closely and buildinpg strong relationships with a range of DTPstaff, interdepartmental staff, other government agencies and industry stakeholders.


Position Outcomes

  • Develop, manage and lead employees to successfully deliver the program of works, including the maintenance and asset management of the Western Roads Upgrade Project and other Private Roads large infrastructure projects across Metropolitan Melbourne.
  • Lead a strategic and coordinated response to achieve set objectives in asset management and develop innovative responses for maintenance issues where defined policy, procedures and precedents do not always exist.
  • Negotiate with and influence key DTP internal stakeholders and external stakeholders, including contractors, Local Councils, and DTF to enable innovative and efficient solutions to resolve asset management problems.
  • Monitors, manages and coordinates the planning, work scheduling, complex data collection, processing, integration, analysis and resource management matters related to the development and delivery of maintenance and construction projects.

Lead the development and administration of the Asset Management related components of significant asset management contracts including the demonstrated commitment to and understanding of safety and wellbeing obligations and responsibilities.


About You
To be successful, you will have the below experience:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, asset management or other related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in a technically focused environment involving engineering design, construction or maintenance of road assets.

Desirable

  • Relevant post graduate qualification in Project Management, Asset Management including ISO 55000, change management or another related technical field.
