Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.

What you'll be doing


The Medical Services Manager is responsible to the Director Medical Services (DMS) for the management of medical administration and administrative aspects of the management of medical staff, including appointments, monitoring of performance management and other HR issues.

The Medical Services Manager supports medical, surgical, womens and babies heads of department in developing business cases, models of care and ensures medical services are efficient, effective and have sound governance frameworks to support high quality service provision and patient care.

This position will provide both advice on and implementation of the planning and development of medical services including financial, organisational, physical and human resource perspective.

The Medical Services Manager works in conjunction with key medical, nursing and allied health support staff to provide operational and strategic direction and advice on patient care and flow issues and in ensuring organisational KPI's are met.

The Medical Services Manager is a member if the Senior Management Team and is responsible for the monitoring of the hospital budget and achievements of financial targets.

Participate in and contribute to Executive Level Committees and act as chairperson as required. Represent the DMS in committee meetings as required including the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
Represent and act as relief for the Director Medical when required.

Selection Criteria:


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health services management (or equivalent) with extensive senior management experience, or an equivalent combination of study and work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly complex human resource and administration matters
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving/negotiation and change management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in budgetary and financial management within allocated resources.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in clinical services planning and policy development skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of HealthRoster and StaffLink, with preferable experience in ROB, Vmoney and TESL.
