About the Role:


This is a Fixed Term Full Time position for approximately 2.5 years within the Corporate Communications Division to align with the period of project funding.


You will lead a small, action-oriented team responsible for creating, managing and sharing health and wellbeing content for parents and young people.

This role is responsible for providing strategic and tactical communications advice to internal stakeholders, developing engaging digital communications campaigns and content, content governance, leading stakeholder engagement with consumers and clinicians, social media and media management, and protecting and enhancing the reputation of the RCH.


What you'll achieve:


  • Lead a small, dedicated team to promote the RCH as a trusted and authoritative voice in the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Health Literacy Communications Plan (including content, media and social media to support both the National Child Health Poll and Kids Health Info) that aligns with the strategic priorities, needs and role of the RCH.
  • Develop new social media channels for young people, manage the planning, development and delivery.
  • Develop an RCH Content Governance Framework for all health literacy content to ensure content is accurate, evidencebased and up to date.

Your skills and experience:


  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field
  • Specialised knowledge and many years' experience across many disciplines
  • Seven years' experience in communications, content development and/or health promotion and managing teams within a large and complex organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and build strong relationships with national, state and local media and generate proactive media coverage
  • Demonstrated ability to find interesting stories and create engaging content
  • Proven success in the development, implementation and evaluation of digital communications
