About you
As our
_Associate Editor_ you will have a strong background in editing, proofreading and editorial project management. Teamwork and excellent communication skills are a must as you will be liaising with authors, peer reviewers, medical editors and production staff.
You demonstrate:
- A comprehension of medical and technical literature; knowledge of medical terminology and clinical guidelines
- A familiarity with the principles of evidencebased medicine and the use of health information to support clinical decision making
- The ability to identify quality, evidencebased sources
- Welldeveloped copyediting and proofreading skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with text and photo permissions, including knowledge of copyright
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to achieve project and organisational goals
- Experience using a content management system, with understanding of the basic principles of HTML
About the opportunity
Reporting to the
_Managing Editor_ you will be responsible for the development of medical content for
- check,_ a Continuing Professional Development program for GPs, and have a supportive role in the production of
- Australian Journal of General Practice_ and
Your responsibilities will also include:
- Identifying and commissioning suitably qualified authors and peer reviewers for the _check_ program in consultation with the Managing Editor (_AJGP_ and _check_)
- Copyedit and proofread articles for _AJGP_ and case studies for _check_, ensuring corrections have been made and RACGP editorial and brand styles have been applied consistently
- Liaise with authors and peer reviewers for _check _and manage author approvals for _check_ case studies
- Liaise with _AJGP_ authors and manage author approvals for final proofs
- Maintain appropriate records/databases of authors and peer reviewers for _check_, and the status of case studies
- Upload and review the digital content for _AJGP_ and _check_
