The Opportunity
APS4 Procurement Adviser

The APS 4 Procurement Advisers will be able to:

  • Be the first point of contact for the Procurement Helpdesk including assessing and using judgement to determine client's needs and requirements, and where appropriate escalating enquires to the supervisor
  • Understand, respond and resolve simple procurement enquires
  • Provide clients with information in accordance with procurement policy
  • Provide administrative assistance to clients including:
  • Guidance for processing payments via credit card and simple contracts
  • Providing panels documents and SOPs to clients
  • First review of contract requisitions, under guidance of supervisor
  • Provide Finance One/Procure to Pay system assistance to clients
  • Assist with system testing, under guidance of supervisor
  • Assist the Procurement Reporting team with administrative reporting tasks
  • Build rapport with clients and colleagues and maintain good stakeholder relationships
  • Undertake activities to develop knowledge and expertise in relation to professional skills
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of training and guidance material
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects under the direction of supervisor
  • Perform adhoc duties as required.
APS5 Procurement Advisers (Business Partners)

The APS 5 Procurement Advisers (Business Partners) will be able to:

  • Provide timely and accurate advice across the procurement life cycle, including but not limited to, supporting procurement planning, approaching the market, reviewing and assisting with the development of contract and related documentation including contract variations and contract management
  • Promote compliance with procurement policies and legislation, for example the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, Indigenous Procurement Policy, and the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act
  • Manage client expectations and build stakeholder relationships under an account management model
  • Provide Finance One/Procure to Pay system assistance to clients
  • Be the first point of contact for the Procurement Helpdesk including assessing and using judgement to determine client's needs and requirements, and where appropriate escalating enquires to the supervisor
  • Review and maintain client based Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as SOPs relevant to the role
  • Manage Panel information and liaise with other departments in relation to panel arrangements
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of training and guidance material
  • Undertake activities to develop knowledge and expertise in relation to professional skills
  • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships, engage and collaborate regularly with key stakeholders i.e. business areas and finance managers, in relation to ongoing and upcoming procurement activities
  • Perform adhoc duties as required.
APS4 Procurement Adviser

  • Demonstrate transferrable skills relevant to the role
  • Have the ability to obtain knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework
  • Have accountability for completion of allocated tasks and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Identify issues and solutions
  • Demonstrate good communication, interpersonal and client service skills
  • Contribute to setting the direction of work priorities and practices in a busy environment.
APS5 Procurement Advisers (Business Partners)

  • Demonstrate procurement experience and/or transferrable skills relevant to the role
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework
  • Work independently with guidance as required
  • Provide a highlevel of client service and promote a client focused culture
  • Exercise good judgement, identify problems or issues and present solutions, under limited guidance
  • Develop and maintain positive internal and external relationships
  • Have sound communication and interpersonal skills
  • Contribute to setting the direction of work priorities and practices

  • Tertiary / Vocational qualifications in Government Procurement e.g. a Certificate IV in Government Procurement
