The Opportunity


We have an exciting opportunity for an
experienced AOD Intake and Assessment Worker to join our passionate Intake team within our Community Services program on a permanent full-time basis.


Reporting to the Team Leader, Central Intake, and based out of our offices in St Kilda, the Intake and Assessment Worker coordinates all intake procedures, from initial enquiries through to admissions.

The role is responsible for providing information, support and facilitating access to the Victorian Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) treatment system.


You will be responsible for the provision of waitlist support to clients awaiting access to our service and information and referral to generalist community supports for clients not eligible and/or not ready to access the AOD treatment system.

Liaising with external stakeholders, the role supports the client in accessing services and provides regular progress reports. The role will also be responsible for brokering forensic clients and ensuring that VADC dashboards are completed accurately.


Ideally you will have:


  • Experience conducting comprehensive assessments, case management and development of clientcentred treatment plans with clients with complex needs.
  • Extensive experience working in a clinical setting delivering a consistent model of care within the sector of alcohol and other drugs, mental health or community service, with an understanding of AOD service navigation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of harm reduction principles and practice
  • Clinical skills with expertise in personcentred consultancy and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical practice
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, negotiate and facilitate client outcomes and resolve conflict
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and with compassion to diverse group of people with complex needs.
  • Sound organisational, analytical and time management skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, Mental Health or other related discipline
  • Certificate IV in AOD or 4 AOD core competencies
