What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Coordinator Internal Audit.


You will work under the strategic direction of the senior executive and are responsible for the leadership and management of a number of teams to deliver outcomes.

They require in depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation's reputation to effectively manage operations.


Executive Level employees must also ensure the achievement of outcomes are in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.

What will you do?

Internal Audit provides independent and objective assurance to:
The AFP Commissioner that the AFP's financial and operational controls designed to manage organisational risks are operating in an effective, efficient and ethical manner
AFP management to improve business performance.

The Coordinator Internal Audit, works under the strategic direction of the senior executive, and is responsible for:
Provision of secretariat support to the AFP Audit Committee
Development and delivery of the Internal Audit Work Program
Provision of advice to management as required
Leadership and management of internal audit team
Management of an outsourced audit panel arrangement


The role involves:

Providing high quality, accurate and timely advice on a wide range of audit topics impacting on the AFP's business operations
Providing advice on internal audit delivery and standards to the Audit Committee and senior management
A high level of integrity and professionalism.
Essential Requirements

A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
Desirable Requirements


The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

Extensive experience in preparing and managing the delivery of a high quality internal audit function including leading the planning, execution and reporting of audits (or equivalent independent reviews) in accordance with the relevant auditing standards.

Experience in exercising a high level of influence and demonstrate business management capabilities.
Experience in building and sustaining internal and external professional networks and collaborative working relationships.

Experience in guiding, mentoring and developing team leaders and members to ensure the sustainability of skills and knowledge in the AFP.

Professional accreditation in a relevant discipline equivalent to Certified Practicing Accountant/Chartered Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
