The job opportunity

The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organised professional to join the Development and Membership team in the role of Development Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Development and working collaboratively with the Development team, the Development Manager will be responsible for the overall Development strategy and for managing and driving the Museum's philanthropy and corporate partnerships programs at the National Museum of Australia.

The Development Manager will also work strategically across the Development team to secure major partnerships and grants, develop a corporate membership program and identify potential donors in the membership base.

Program development includes implementing a framework and strategy for the philanthropic program and for delivery and implementation that creates affinity for the Museum through a range of exciting events and benefits.

The position will meet monthly and annual revenue budgets and identify opportunities for growth through targeted and compelling pitches to donors, corporate partners, grant makers and other affiliated stakeholders.

Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating donor and member satisfaction is essential to the program, as is stewardship of the current donor base.

The Development Manager will oversee and manage all administrative and staff management aspects associated with the Development program and report on outcomes and progress to the Executive, Council and other stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be passionate about the cultural sector and understand philanthropy, corporate partnerships and the importance of private giving programs in driving affinity to the organisation.

You will be a strategic thinker who is outcomes focused and highly organised, with demonstrated experience in implementing philanthropic, corporate partnership and/or membership (or similar programs).

You will also have extensive experience of working with a CRM database.

With a strategic focus on this role, you will develop planned activations to encourage individual and corporate giving and drive relationships that lead to supplementation of the Museum's own source revenue objectives.

You will need to use analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions. Your strong written communication skills will be needed to draft correspondence, reports and plans for various audiences. Attention to detail, structure and organisation will be instrumental in ensuring you are successful in this role.

As an integral member of the Development and Membership team, you will also be expected to work independently and use your initiative to grow and develop the Development program to meet ambitious targets.

Equally, you will be able to prioritise your workload to manage your time effectively and achieve outcomes within agreed and sometimes tight timeframes.
