The Role


The Families and Young People Services Team are currently looking for a Fixed Term Full-Time Case Worker in our Connected Families Program.

The contract will start immediately and run until the 30th June 2023. This role is within the Mercy Community Intensive Family Support Service (Connected Families) based in our Ipswich office.

This program supports children, young people and families in the community experiencing multiple and complex needs and at risk of entering or re-entering the child protection system.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing a range of intensive support services to highly vulnerable families through the delivery of culturally inclusive services and case management, to build skills and facilitate sustainable change to become more capable and resilient and improve their overall wellbeing.


To be eligible for this position you will require (Key Selection Criteria):

  • Relevant 3-year degree with at least 2 years' previous relevant experience, or 4-year degree with at least 1 year's previous relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in strengthsbased casework with complex families.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Child Protection system.
  • A clear, expressed understanding of the complex challenges facing families in contemporary society and a sound understanding of risk assessment frameworks.
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • You must hold a current Queensland Provisional Green or Open Drivers Licence.
  • You must hold a positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and be able to obtain a positive Police Check and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required

This position offers a competitive rate of $35.77 to $42.25 per hour plus superannuation (dependent on qualifications and experience). You can also increase your take-home pay by salary sacrificing and other benefits available.
