Engagement Manager to join their professional team based in Sydney NSW.

The business has experienced significant growth over the last decade and has an exciting opportunity for an Industry Engagement Manager to join the team to lead the development and implementation of the company's AIC (Australian Industry Capability) strategy and AIC plans, reporting and monitoring performance against those plans.

This position reports directly to the General Manager.


The Industry Engagement Manager will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to realise our client's objectives and enhance Australian sovereign industry capability in accordance with Defence Policy and ASDEFCON contracting models.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Lead the development and implementation of AIC strategy for the company that progressively enhances our client's maturity and raises internal awareness and understanding
  • Working in close collaboration with the Design/Engineering, Supply Chain and Communications teams as part of an IPT approach and proactively identify and develop suppliers to support our AIC strategy and enhance Australia's sovereign industry capability
  • Develop innovative AIC plans and engage with internal stakeholders to ensure their successful implementation across the business
  • Monitor and provide internal and customer AIC reports as required
  • Support the identification, development and implementation of research and development (R&D) collaboration opportunities, including relationships with academia
  • Contribute to relevant state and federal government policy through engagement with government agencies and advocacy groups
  • Facilitate forums and discussions with current and prospective suppliers and subcontractors to maximise use of Australian industry
  • Execute strategies to support solution development and business winning activities

Responsibilities:


  • Observe and abide by IMS policies, procedures and management plans.
  • Ensure the planning, implementation and control processes required for each activity.
  • Prepare and update plans, schedules, and reports as required.
  • Assess and mitigate risk in accordance with Safe Work Management Systems
  • Monitor organisational processes to remove or reduce risks of environmental harm or nuisance.
  • Initiate immediate corrective action where processes have or are likely to cause environmental harm or nuisance
  • Oversee monitoring of equipment maintenance activities to ensure conformance to product quality requirements
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports and Corrective Action Reports relative to work processes
  • Monitor compilation and filing of quality assurance documentation relative to work processes
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager in assuring ongoing supplier performance through targeted mentoring programs aimed at maximising Australian industry participation
  • Assist with Risk Control/Management
  • Ensuring that the identified subcontractors and suppliers deliver products and services meeting the cost, time and technical performance requirements of the contract as they relate to the agreed AIC Plan.
  • Ensure AIC obligations related to social procurement outcomes covering Indigenous engagement, Veterans employment and engagement with academia and local community schools are publicised and implemented.
  • Work with IPT to identify issues and rectify or escalate potential cost risks and issues appropriately to seek support and assistance.

Skills & Experience:


  • Qualifications in Business / Project Management / Supply Chain Management or other related field
  • 5 years + experience in Australian Defence Industry in supply chain/procurement roles
  • Member of leading procurement and/or supply chain body such as CIPS is desirable
  • Experience in development of strategic supplier relationships
  • Knowledge of the Australian Industry Policy framework
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing AIC plans within the ASDEFCON framework is desirable
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders from a wide array of backgrounds including academia and politics
  • Having established networks within Australian industry, state and federal government is ideal
