Role Purpose

The Regulation and Compliance Officer is part of the Regulation team that provides high level authoritative advice and action on regulatory compliance matters.

Working closely with the Department of Health and other co-regulators to deliver the required functions, the success in this role underpins community and industry confidence in assisted reproductive treatment.


VARTA


VARTA is a statutory authority guided by the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008 and the Minister for Health's Statement of Expectations.


VARTA helps people understand what they can do to improve their chance of having a baby.

We regulate assisted reproductive treatment (ART) providers and prioritise the best interests of people having ART, and their future children.

We support people involved in donor conception to get the information they need and to achieve their connection preferences.
Key Accountabilities


As the Regulation and Compliance Officer, you will:

  • Contribute to delivery of
    VARTA's regulatory role and priorities fulfilling key functions in a targeted and risk-based way to protect the welfare and interests of:
  • Gather information and prepare reports to monitor compliance of ART providers with the Act, Regulations and / or Conditions for Registration.
  • Process adverse incident notification from ART providers including regular monitoring and reporting to the CEO and Board.
  • Effectively utilise existing business systems and prepare timely and accurate advice to support the Regulation team to fulfill its functions.
  • Support effective relationships with key stakeholders, including other regulatory agencies, to encourage positive regulatory outcomes.
  • Maintain relevant business processes and systems supporting the regulation function including, keeping accurate and complete records of your work and activities in accordance with Victorian law
  • Proactively participate, contribute and collaborate as a member of the Regulation team, including contributing to building a positive and supportive team culture.

Technical Expertise

  • Ability to interpret legislation
  • Proven analytical skills with a strong focus on attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and written skills
  • Ability to ensure project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships, including contributing to a positive workplace culture.
  • Proven analytical, organisational and highly developed writing skills.

Qualifications:


  • Experience and/or tertiary qualification in a relevant field (desirable).
