THE ROLE:


The position is a Manager role within the Business Engagement and Program Management Branch reporting directly to the Director, Business Engagement.

This role is responsible for supporting the Director of Business Engagement in ensuring business is at the centre of delivering the STS reform agenda.


The Assistant Director, Business Engagement will be responsible for managing the STS senior committee secretariat function, the planning for key STS events and activities such as the STS Summit.

They will also use their knowledge of government policy agendas and decision-making processes to influence and support the Government's trade and investment priorities across government, contributing to the development of a range of written material for strategic engagement activities.

The role works closely with a broad variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure business engagement is strategic, coordinated and action oriented.

This role requires a mature, organised and energetic individual with high attention to detail.

The ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) in a diverse environment under pressure with strict deadlines are also required for this role.


Duties Include:


  • Leading and managing the STS senior committee secretariat responsibilities for the IAC and IAC Working Group.
  • Leading the planning and delivery of key STS stakeholder events such as the STS Summit.
  • Preparing, reviewing and editing documents to a high standard for a range of audiences.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to a small team of STS staff.
  • Liaising with a range of senior internal and external stakeholders regarding confidential and sensitive issues, providing detailed and professional advice to support strategic requirements.
  • Engaging, collaborating and building relationships, including with internal and external Senior Executive's to deliver high quality secretariat support.
  • Contributing to strategic thinking and design to support the STS Business Engagement agenda.
