The role Reporting to the Director, Healthcare Improvement Unit, you will lead and manage teams to develop, coordinate and implement statewide initiatives focused on improving equity, access and quality healthcare services


You will:

  • Lead and manage a team of project officers to deliver network projects and initiatives using a framework focused on healthcare improvement strategies including project management, quality improvement, change management and science improvement methodologies.
  • Lead and influence statewide clinical networks to improve the quality of healthcare services and healthcare outcomes for First Nations people.
  • Manage all aspects of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Network, including support the steering committee, setting priorities, managing multiple tasks and risks, achieving results within tight deadlines and coordinating projects effectively.
  • Provide time critical, expert advice and written briefings and submissions to internal and external senior stakeholders (which include the Minister for Health and the Director-General) on complex issues impacting healthcare service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The successful personKey to your success will be your:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and their relationship with contemporary health status and outcomes
  • Welldeveloped communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Proven success strategically leading a high performing team to deliver complex statewide change management projects that improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services
  • Strong ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and/or reviewing complex reports, submissions, briefs agenda papers and other correspondence for a range of executive and ministerial stakeholders
  • Proven experience working in challenging and dynamic operating environments and delivering highquality outcomes with tight timeframes.
