Disability Support Worker:
Hunter Valley & Newcastle


  • Build strong connections with people with disability to provide quality support and achieve positive outcomes
  • Hourly Rate: $ $ % loading for casuals (plus shift penalties where applicable)
  • Not-ForProfit Salary Packaging options available for all staff (up to $15,900/pa)

Our Supported Living team work 1:1 with people in their own homes, with a focus on skill-building or reaching goals which matter to them.


We support people in Maitland and Cessnock - however there are also opportunities toward Newcastle for people who are happy to drive in.

Role Responsibilities:


  • Have a valued role in the daily operation of services that provide life skill development, social inclusion, and vocational opportunities for people with a disability.
  • Providing support in accordance with participants individualised plans and promote good health and wellbeing.
  • Some roles may involve support and assistance with daily living tasks, including personal care.
  • Ability to follow health and personal care plans, including positive behaviour support plans.
  • Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and best practice.
  • Providing opportunities for skill development and inclusion in their communities.

Skills and Experience:


  • Prior experience working with people with disabilities or in a similar role would be highly regarded
  • Certificate III and/or IV in Disability and prior experience is recommended but not required
  • Willingness to drive a Unisson vehicle
  • Has a passion for supporting people to live their best life
  • Takes a strengthsbased approach and sees possibilities with people
  • Is creative and proactive in identifying and responding to change
  • Must be available to work different rostered shifts, weekends, evening shifts and split shifts
