Reporting to the
Technical Services Manager the
Technical Communicator is responsible for providing technical support by assisting with troubleshooting complex machine faults and providing repair advice.
On a daily basis, you will be engaging with various stakeholders including customers, management, our product support and engineering teams and the service department with the main objective of restoring product functionality with a quick turnaround time.
No single day will be the same as a Technical Communicator, you will enjoy a wide variety of work that offers diverse challenges to resolve unique situations, resulting in a high level of job satisfaction.
This role serves as the technical liaison between WesTac and Caterpillar and you will be continuously monitoring the health of products by analysing developing trends from various input streams and engage with product groups accordingly.
For some issues, you will be required travel to the job site to carry out investigative testing and analysis before providing recommendations for paths to resolution.

About You:
- Trade qualified as a Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic or Automotive Electrical Technician
- Proven understanding of the importance of safe working practices
- Technical and product knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and operating systems will be an advantage
- 5 years of posttrade experience with proven ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical knowledge
- Exceptional diagnostic and problemsolving skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify continuous improvement
- Intermediate computer literacy skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Ability to develop and mentor a workforce through transfer of knowledge
- Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to site at short notice to attend to investigations
