The Nursing and Midwifery School is one of the oldest tertiary Nursing Schools in Australia and offers a range of quality and market ready education programs.

The Technical Officer, Nursing & Midwifery role is operational and fits within the teaching and learning support structure of the Office of the Provost for the University.


We are seeking a Technical Officer to work within the Facilities and Technical Services (FTS) team to support the Nursing & Midwifery teaching program within the Health Cluster in Bundoora.

This position will provide a broad range of technical, administrative, and facilities-based support to assist teaching staff and students to achieve teaching, learning and research outcomes associated with the School.


Routine tasks include:

  • Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment (e.g. manikins)
  • Training support
  • Setup and packdown of classes
  • Management of consumables

This role supports the practical classes of the Nursing & Midwifery students and therefore the successful applicant will need to be available to work 7 hrs 15 mins, between the hours of 7.30am and 6.30pm. This will be rostered on a rotational basis.

Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • A recognised nursing qualification with subsequent relevant experience in a clinical laboratory, OR an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience within a laboratory or nursing environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to organise work effectively and efficiently and deliver outputs in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow established procedures with limited supervision and contribute positively to an effective team.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual and computer equipment would be considered advantageous.
