Specifically, we're looking for a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM2) that has current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

Someone with significant recent clinical experience in a mental health setting and tertiary qualification in health management or working towards or a combination of study.

Here at Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM2) - Custodial Mental Health is a leadership role which has a line management role and clinical operations responsibility for a specialist mental health services provided by Custodial Mental Health (CMH) at Long Bay Hospital Mental Health Unit.

The position is an integral part of the CMH nursing management team and is responsible, in conjunction with the Custodial Mental Health Nursing Unit Manager for local level planning, development, implementation and evaluation of specialist mental health nursing services and for overseeing the delivery of those services.

The position holder will work within Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (the Network) and NSW Ministry of Health policies, procedures and guidelines as well as the relevant Corrective Services NSW legislation, regulations, and policies.

  • Proven ability to manage and monitor staff performance across all domains including clinical practice, professional conduct and professional development.
  • Proven ability in incident management and reporting systems within a quality improvement and governance framework.
  • Proven ability in Windows based programs and computer based rostering, audit and incident management systems.
  • Proven ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously to meet identified outcomes and time lines.
  • An ability to build a positive and resilient team culture that reflects the values of the organisation.
