EDP is seeking HSE Consultants specialised in asbestos and hazardous materials management to join our office in Sydney.

EDP is a health, safety and environmental consultancy founded over 25 years ago with offices throughout the UK and with international operations in Ireland and Singapore.

As part of continuing the international expansion, we opened an office in Sydney with the aim of growing an industry leading health, safety and environmental consultancy business across Australia.


We are looking for experienced Asbestos / Hazardous Materials and Occupational Hygiene Consultants to join our rapidly expanding Australian operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to help grow EDP and be part of the EDP journey in Australia from an early stage.

We believe this is a rare opportunity to help grow and shape the culture of a new business with support from the wider EDP Group.


We require self-motivated, high calibre consultants to assist with input to develop both technical excellence and industry leading quality systems and processes.


Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesUndertaking asbestos/hazardous materials audits and sampling; Conducting a full range of compliance air monitoring, for friable and non-friable asbestos works and visual inspections during Asbestos/Hazmat remediation projects; Maintaining existing client relationships to expand regional business opportunities and services via proactive consultancy; Preparing accurate reports of your work in standard formats; and Maintaining and building on good relationship with clients.

This role involves working to our Quality Management Systems within small project teams of consultants and servicing a range of local and national clients in both the public and private sector.


As a committed and service driven individual you will either have proven ability in the main core areas, or a strong desire to gain this experience.

On occasion, our work involves travelling and working at weekends and other unsocial hours as required from time to time.

A full driving license is essential.

As such full flexibility in work and travel will be required from the successful applicants to enable us to service our clients.

Overtime and travel and subsistence costs are payable when applicable.


Skills and Experience Required:


REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

DESIRABLE
Qualifications / Training

Licensed Asbestos Assessor

Tertiary Qualification in related area

Experience

At least 24 months related Asbestos / Hazmat experience

2+ yrs. related Asbestos / Hazmat experience

Skills / Knowledge

  • MS office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Report Writing; and
  • Organisation skills.
  • People Management;
  • Project Management; and/or
  • Commercial skills.
Personal Qualities

Ability to adapt to the challenges of a newly created business

Ability to develop good relationships with clients and representatives at all levels

Other Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills with English language;
  • Ability to work within a dynamic environment with tight deadlines;
  • Flexible and proactive attitude to work; and
  • Full clean driving license.
