Telecommunications Linesman
Established in 2014, CITA Services has grown to become a premier provider of wireless telecommunications installation and commissioning services in New South Wales and Queensland.
Due to an increase in new client projects, we are very interested to hear from experienced Telecommunications Linesmen to boost our NSW team based at our Seven Hills office/warehouse.
The primary role of the Telecommunications Linesman involves one or more of the following work activity areas: installing, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of telecommunication equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertake prework site inspections to ensure that design drawings and specifications for the scope of work are accurate, highlighting any anomalies to the Project Manager
- Examine drawings, specifications, and work areas to determine positioning and connections for equipment to be installed
- Order and gather equipment, supplies, materials, and tools required for site installation
- Test hardware to ensure it is in working order before installation
- Interpret plans and designs, and exercise effective judgement to ensure meet scope of work requirements
- Dismantle, install, upgrade, and maintain masts, towers, poles, and associated plant/communication equipment
- Erect, test and maintain aerial and underground wires and cables, and radio and mobile phone antennae
- Terminate, haul, and install waveguides, coaxial, hybrid feeders to the manufacturer's specifications and in accordance with design documentation
- Install underground duct, cables, and earthing. Work with cables and sheaths in a safe and regulatory based manner
- Operate vehicles and mechanical aids where a relevant ticket is held
- Establish connections, programming features and integrations by following industry standards
- Attach wires and cables to appliances/equipment. Adjust, replace, and repair faulty items, and test equipment using correctly calibrated electronic instruments
- Fault isolation, analysis and repair requiring a high degree of diagnostic skill
- Locate faults in telecommunications equipment using instruments such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, and transmission measuring equipment
- Conduct cable testing and recording; optic fibre testing/splicing and commissioning as appropriate. Undertake complex cable rearrangement activities
- Terminate and test waveguides and antennae
- Assist Telecommunications Technicians in the installation, integration and testing of communications/service equipment
- As part of a small team, be able to work away from home in remote areas for extended periods
- Advising the Team Leader of problems on site, or where commitments made to clients may not be able to be met, and suggest solutions to overcome problems
- Ensuring adherence to company policies, regulations and all quality and safety requirements
- Ensuring that all data is entered accurately to all databases and in a timely and efficient manner
Skills and Background Required
- Must have previous field experience in Telstra or Optus or Vodafone/TPG or NBN Wireless installation programs
- Advantageous to have 5G installation and testing experience
- A demonstrated practical working knowledge of the relevant work practices and competency in the above functions as required
- The ability to complete project activities in a safe and healthy manner, to work to instruction standards and in accordance with the project scope
- Must have sound computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have proficient oral and written communication skills
- An ability to work effectively in a team environment
- A Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Recognised dogging and basic rigging license (RB)
- Recognised Working at Heights certificate
- Recognised tower rescue certificate
- A valid certificate in RF awareness (RADHAZ)
- A current senior first aid and CPR certificate
- A current clean driver's licence and a clean police check
Qualifications:
- Diploma of Electronics and Communication Engineering (TAFE), or equivalent
Experience:
Telecommunications Industry: 3 years (preferred)
