Position Information
Robert Townson High School services the communities of Raby, Bow Bowing, Varroville and St Andrews.

Our school celebrates diversity, including approximately 30 students within our Hearing Impairment Unit as well as students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

We have approximately 790 students with 42% of school population from English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds and 62 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.


We have been able to develop and maintain significantly positive partnerships with our local TAFEs, universities across Sydney, local historical and cultural institutions, businesses (particularly in the area of engagement and vocational education) along with other community groups.

Within the local government areas there is a myriad of choice in the areas of Sports and Arts.

This sees some of our students represent Robert Townson High School across the local and regional areas as well as occasionally across the State.


Specific Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Technology Mandatory Years 7 and 8 (ITX), Design and Technology (DAT) and Engineering Studies/Industrial Tech-Engineering (ENS).
  • Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in Metal and Engineering (VEG) and Construction-General (VCG) providing the qualification entry benchmark* is met.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relations with students and challenge and engage them as learners through differentiated, innovative and effective teaching practices.
  • Demonstrated ability and evidence of effective classroom management and the capacity to create and maintain safe, supportive and inclusive learning environments that support students of all abilities and backgrounds
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, communication and organisation skills with the capacity to work as a collaborative member of the TAS faculty and contribute to whole school programs.
