The NSW Leadership Academy in the NSW Public Service Commission is looking for a people-centred, adaptable, results-oriented Program Manager to work with a dynamic team to successfully deliver the vision and objectives of the Academy.

The Leadership Academy delivers a suite of learning programs specifically designed for current and emerging leaders across the NSW public sector.

This role supports the delivery of the academy's executive programs.

It is also responsible for the design and delivery of programs that aim to develop future Aboriginal leaders across the sector.

You're a problem solver, have excellent attention to detail, able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, are self-motivated, innovative, and solution focused.

As a Program Manager your impact will be seen by:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, customers and peers in the review, design, delivery, and evaluation of the program.
  • Leading and implementing evidencebased, contemporary leadership development solutions, and
  • Initiating and managing a range of leadership development projects and initiatives.

Essential requirements

A tertiary qualification in learning and development, organisational development, leadership development or similar and/or equivalent experience with contemporary learning methods with a focus on leadership development.

About the Public Service Commission


The?Public Service Commission (PSC)?is headed by an independent Public Service Commissioner and is a separate agency under the?Government Sector Employment Act 2013?(GSE Act) that supports the Commissioner in the exercise of her functions and powers.


The PSC leads the design, development and implementation of the full range of sector-wide workforce management strategies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the NSW government sector.

  • Describe a time when you managed challenging stakeholders. How did you build and maintain relationships between your team and stakeholders, and what lessons did you learn?
  • Give a recent example of a role where you were responsible for implementing a leadership development program, demonstrating how you used an understanding of adult learning and project management processes to meet outcomes, on time and on budget under pressure. (You do not need to have personally delivered or facilitated the program for example external consultants could have been used to facilitate workshops)
