We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our high-performing team of lawyers where our ambition is to grow our talent from within.
As paralegal, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our work is executed and managed to a high standard while receiving important on-the-job mentoring and training to ensure you have the right tools and skills to further your legal career.
You'll be joining a team of intelligent, fun and caring lawyers - each at different stages in their careers - who together provide a suite of strategic services for our real estate operations in Australia across the gamut of property law, supporting a growing sphere of real estate assets and classes.
This position will suit a critical thinking, self-starting and enthusiastic paralegal who wants to build their career in property law.
You may currently be studying or already have experience as a paralegal and want to shift you career into a top tier organisation.
Responsible for:
- Manage and oversee document execution and filing processes, including obtaining mortgagee consents
- Assist with managing and updating precedent documentation
- Liaising with Legal and Treasury teams to ensure up to date information on lenders and mortgagee consent requirements
- Manage PPSR registrations
- Maintaining databases and key document summaries
- Assist with managing engagement of external legal service providers and processing of legal invoices
- Assist SVP Legal Counsel with tracking budgets and processing of monthly expenses
- Assist with updating policies and procedures
- Work with BPA Legal and Risk to implement processes
- Assist in maintaining records and auditing of professional certifications, including team practising certificates and real estate licences
- Assist with due diligence and obtaining property and company related searches using online databases and tools
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Brookfield Properties Australia legal team
- Organise travel, itineraries and associated bookings for the team
- Organise meetings, workshops, conferences and events
- Maintain subscriptions and workeflow databases
- Maintain and update Legal intranet page
- Assist and work with other Executive Assistants, Administrators and support functions where needed.
- Foster positive and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Completing work in a timely and accurate manner
- Develop an understanding of the business and its culture
- Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to matters
About you:
- Paralegal support experience in real estate is advantageous but not essential
- Students studying law with a keen interest in real estate will also be considered
- Possess a proactive, positive and flexible approach with a willingness to learn and show creativity and initiative
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with all levels of management
- Strong time management skills with ability to prioritise tasks
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a highperformance, fastpaced environment, able to balance urgency and accuracy
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (notably Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Wellrounded individual who is collegiate with the ability to foster and build positive working relationships quickly and effectively.
