The Cabinet Office (TCO) commenced its operations on 1 July 2023, and we have a variety of exciting opportunities to join a new department at the Centre of Government.

We are currently seeking talented individuals with a passion for shaping the future


We have several exciting opportunities for policy professionals at various grades with strong strategic and analytical skills to join the newly established Social Policy & National Reform (SPNR) and Economic & Environment Policy (EEP) Groups within The Cabinet Office (TCO) as we expand our Policy Groups to support the Government to deliver its priorities.


About the Groups

:


The SPNR leads the support of the Premier and Government's legislative, policy and parliamentary agenda to achieve the Government's priorities.


Social Policy Branch covers social policy issues including with the Health, Education, Skills and Early Childhood, Policing, Attorney General, Family & Community Services and the Department of Customer Service portfolios. It is focused on the strategic priorities within and across these portfolios to support improved social policy outcomes for communities and vulnerable people in particular.


Intergovernmental Reform & Strategic Priorities Branch leads engagement with the Commonwealth and States & Territories and supports the Premier in his role at the National Cabinet driving NSW priorities nationally. We're looking for people with domestic and international intergovernmental experience. The Branch also works closely with other agencies and departments to drive the Government's strategic priorities to ensure coordinated policy development.

The EEP leads Economic; Environment, Energy and Housing; and human services policy development supported by rich data.


Economic Policy Branch covers Infrastructure, Treasury, Transport, Investment, and Arts, Culture & Sport portfolios. It is focused on identifying opportunities and managing risks associated with large investment decisions and coordinating and developing policy measures that support economic growth, economic reform, investment in NSW, cultural activity and fiscal sustainability. The branch covers a broad range of policy issues and is looking for general policy and economist positions.


Environment Energy and Housing Branch covers Environment, Energy, Climate Change, Water, Agriculture, Lands and Property, Regional NSW, Natural Resources, Local Government, Heritage, Planning, Housing and Homelessness portfolios.

The Branch provides whole of government coordination and strategic advice, focusing on environmentally sustainable and timely investment across the NSW economy to deliver NSW Net Zero target and housing priorities:
including effective environment protection and resources management.

:

The Cabinet Office is at the centre of the public service and:

  • Leads strategic and policy alignment across government, including driving action on the government's key priorities.
  • Provides expert and independent policy and legal advice to the Premier and the Cabinet, including National Cabinet.
  • Manages the forward Cabinet agenda and submission process to ensure decisions are timely, well informed, and aligned to government priorities.
  • Works alongside the Treasury and other agencies to ensure that proposals for Cabinet are fully developed.
  • Provides governance and legal services to The Cabinet Office and Premier's Department.
