The Digital team is focused on reinventing and transforming the shopping experience to best suit our customers' needs, making their lives easier.


This role will lead the newly form
Operating System Engineering
support team, a deeply technical and hands-on team, primarily responsible for building and managing Operating System platforms to support solutions whilst working closely with the broader Digital security, Cloud engineering and Application groups.


As the
Manager - Operating Systems Engineering you will be responsible for managing and evolving the team to deliver IT solutions across
Windows & Linux servers and related Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies.


About the role:


Coles Technology has a Hybrid Cloud Strategy with a goal to deliver a consistent infrastructure experience regardless of where a solution is delivered.

As part of the
Core Technology Services team, this newly created position will lead the evolution of Coles'
Operating Systems Engineering across private and public cloud for Windows and Linux based systems to enable this vision.


We are on the lookout for an experienced Technologist who has proven knowledge
across Microsoft & Linux Operating System and Infrastructure solutions** with an ability to shape and lead the ongoing shift to automation, self-service, and self-heal capabilities without impacting the ongoing support and operations of current services.


This is an exciting opportunity to guide and influence the step change in technology to support our customer shopping experience.


You'll also:

  • Be tasked with uplifting the
    capability and discipline to enable costeffective, fit for purpose, highly resilient service delivery at scale and pace for Windows & Linux based solutions.
  • To support the move towards automation and selfservice, build out the
    Infrastructure
    asCode capability (
    IaC)
  • Responsible for the project delivery of
    Microsoft & Linux Operating System and Infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide technical planning, standards, and solutions to meet business needs and project timelines.
  • Develop detailed documentation to satisfy business and operational requirements.
  • Perform all aspects of planning, development, and implementation of infrastructure across the organisation.
  • Provide indepth technical expertise and advice as appropriate to the organisation.

About you:


This technical leadership role is fully accountable for
Microsoft & Linux Operating System
and Infrastructure solutions working closely with internal and external stakeholders and providing professional technical advice throughout the organisation.


You'll also need

  • A track record of
    leading high performing teams.**:
  • Proven performance in planning and delivering and operating
    computing infrastructure in a large-scaled enterprise environment.
  • Strong
    Azure automation experience using AzureDevOps**, Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience in delivering
    IaC Solutions

  • Strong working knowledge of
    public and
    private cloud platforms including
    VMware, Azure, GCP
    and physical server hardware
:


  • Excellent knowledge of building, delivering, and supporting enterprise technologies
