What you'll be doing:


The Team Leader Drug & Alcohol Community Teams provides a key role in the front line operational management and continued development of community based drug and alcohol services across the NBMLHD.

This role will include the establishment (developing and implementing) of new and innovative programs and models of care for adult drug & alcohol clinical services operating within a community setting.


The core functions of this position include:

  • Day to day operational management of staff.
  • Ensure clinicians participate in clinical supervision/review sessions.
  • Support the development of referral pathways between the Drug & Alcohol Service and a range of service providers across the NBMLHD region.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new clinical programs and community based Drug & Alcohol services.
  • Managing a patient case load.
  • An eligibility list may be created for future vacancies.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:


  • Tertiary qualifications and professional registration/membership as follows: (a) Occupational Therapy minimum Bachelor Degree and general registration with AHPRA; or (b) Social Work minimum Bachelor Degree and eligibility for membership of AASW; or (c) Senior Psychologist a four year degree in psychology and general registration with AHPRA; or (d) Clinical/Forensic Psychologist
  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement or working towards endorsement as a clinical or forensic psychologist (as appropriate to postgraduate qualification); or (e) Bachelor Degree in Counselling and eligibility for membership of PACFA or ACA (f) Nursing minimum Bachelor Degree and Division 1 registration as a registered nurse with AHPRA and relevant post graduate qualifications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current principles, policies and practices of health service delivery relevant to the area of Drug & Alcohol
