Position Information:


Sefton High School (enrolment 1099 including 95% from Non-English-speaking background) is a co-educational, academically selective school with a parallel community stream intake.

The school is characterised by a focus of high expectations of all students and staff and quality teaching and learning in a highly structured and disciplined learning environment which has the support of parents.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,


  • Demonstrated capacity to lead a faculty in the delivery of high quality, evidence-based, inclusive curriculum that fosters a culture of high expectations for all learners, including HPGE students.
  • Demonstrated capacity to inspire, develop and lead the TAS and Visual Arts staff through curriculum reform and delivery, and manage major work submissions and VET compliance.
  • Demonstrated exceptional organisational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain a positive faculty environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a highly effective and collaborative member of the school executive team in the implementation of school strategic directions and whole school initiatives.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
