The Opportunity


The Social Performance Consultant is a newly created role to support growth in our Mining and Energy business in Brisbane.

We work closely with multi-disciplinary teams throughout the broader business to support our clients, who include market leaders in the Mining and Energy sectors, throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.


You will work across a diverse range of projects to deliver social impact assessments incorporating qualitative and quantitative social research programs, undertake social performance audits and develop adaptive management and monitoring programs.


Day to day, you will:


  • Assist in preparing reports and proposals that support the Communities and Social Performance team
  • Prepare literature reviews on topics related to social change and innovation
  • Design and undertake social research in support of impact assessments and auditing programs on topics including employment and economy, workforce planning, community infrastructure and services, land and resource use and health
  • Participate in community engagement activities involving workshops, focus groups and meetings (telephone and inperson interviews) and surveys
  • Collate and analyse quantitative and qualitative research
  • Manage your own workflow and support senior staff to deliver medium to largescale projects
  • Explore opportunities to engage new clients by leveraging existing relationships

What we'll love about you


Ideally, you have 1-3 years' experience as a consultant conducting socio-economic impact assessments or related research and are comfortable participating in community-research activities.

You will also bring:


  • Education
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Humanities, Human Geography, Planning, Environmental Planning or related social discipline


  • Communication skills

  • You are adept at writing and producing reports that use accessible language and graphics to communicate complex information succinctly


  • Strategic thinking

  • You can understand and analyse a diverse range of perspectives in a changing social and economic environment


  • Interpersonal skills

  • We work across teams, regions, and cultures, so effective engagement with communities, stakeholders and clients is core to our work practice


  • Technical knowledge

  • Familiarity with international, national and statebased guidelines and leading practice for preparing social, health and economic impact assessments will be highly regarded
