About the Role:


Contribute to the development and execution of AGL's energy transition strategy by managing the commercial and strategic workstreams of AGL's low carbon generation growth opportunities including potential acquisitions, and the disciplined development of existing generation project opportunities.


The role is responsible for the commercial development of high capital value generation projects ($100m - $1.5b) for submission to AGL Board and/or financiers.


What you'll be doing:
Project Development

  • Coordinate and manage internal and external resources and contractors through the implementation of complex power development projects within the NEM to meet time and cost forecasts.
  • Assist with the development of procurement and commercial strategies to assist with the development of power projects within allocated timeframes whilst maximising commercial outcomes for the AGL.
  • Contribute to the negotiation of high value contracts for project acquisition, power plant construction, transmission connection, real estate, consultancies, and other agreements necessary to deliver power projects.
  • Manage contracts with external consultants and contractors for the delivery of development and due diligence activities.
  • Identify, manage, and report on key risks and issues.
Business development

  • Contribute to the preparation of business cases for the approval of power generation opportunities to a level sufficient to be recommended to the Board for investment approval ($100m$1,500m).
  • Undertake market screening activities to develop and maintain relationships with potential OEMs and construction contractors for AGL's development opportunities.
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are introduced and adhered to while meeting the organisations policies and standards for HSE Management.

About You:

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of the OEM and contractor market for the development and construction of utilityscale generation projects.
  • Understanding of energy markets and value drivers for large scale generation projects, in particular renewables and storage.
  • Ideally experienced in the development or negotiation of largescale renewable generation projects, including wind, pumped hydro or storage.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in power industry and/or similar commercial roles.
  • Understanding of NEM rules and connection requirements for projects.
  • Exposure to development process from concept to investment commitment.
  • Bachelor or postgraduate level tertiary qualifications preferred, preferably in at least one of Finance, Commerce, Law or Engineering.
