The Role


The Associate Director, IT Planning and Governance will work closely with the Director ITS Services and other senior leaders in leading the strategy, planning, and delivery of major projects at Murdoch University.

You will establish and evolve new capabilities, leading their establishment and continuous improvement until ready to transition to business as usual.


Further key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Supporting the Director, IT Services through development, continued evolution and execution of the Digital strategy and roadmaps,
  • Identify, establish and continuously improve new delivery capabilities required to maintain IT Services ability to support the University strategic plan, ultimately transitioning them to Solution Delivery and Operations,
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement and development of delivery governance functions across
  • Enterprise Architecture,
  • Project Management and agile delivery,
  • Information Security and Risk Management,
  • Business Change Management,
  • Business Engagement,
  • Vendor and Commercial Management,
  • Embed a culture of service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement founded on respect,
What you'll bring to this role

  • Tertiary qualification in IT or relevant field, in addition to relevant experience in a senior leadership role within IT; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience,
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills in order to guide, coach and manage staff and ensure staff are developed and motivated to their full potential,
  • Experience in developing and implementing information and technology strategies, architecture and governance frameworks in alignment with organisational goals,
  • Indepth knowledge, understanding and experience with strategic planning and delivery of a portfolio of projects in line with Murdoch's priorities and plans,
  • Proven ability to communicate with influence, establish positive stakeholder relationships at all levels of the University, and negotiate competing priorities,
