Parking Patrol Officers are responsible for providing a safe and healthy Council area by ensuring effective and efficient patrols of areas with parking restrictions and the issuing of Penalty Notices or warnings for breaches of parking and associated offences.
What's in it for you
- 35 hours per week, between the hours of 7:30am7:30pm
- Based in Merrylands
- 3month contract, with potential to extend
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issuing of infringements under the SEINS system.
- Patrol Council free car parks to ensure the safety of people and property within the car park and to also maximise vehicular turnover and the availability of car spaces.
- Patrols of the LGA for on street parking including the issuing of infringements
- Prepare briefs for Court matters and present evidence required for Court.
- Provide written and/or verbal evidence to appropriate persons.
- Receive complaints, determine their priority and undertake effective and appropriate action.
- Complete and maintain infringement books/PDA's, and ensure they are kept safe and legible.
- Attend Court as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Experience interpreting legislation & understanding of Road Transport Act 201
- Completion of SEINS and court proceedings preparation.
- Knowledge of Local Government and related legislation, regulation and polices.
- Strong Verbal and Written communication skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public.
- Successful completion of dealing with aggressive people.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Flexible, reliable and responsible
- Hold a current NSW Drivers Licence
- Computer literacy, advanced communication skills both written and verbal.
- School Certificate or equivalent.
- Local government, Parking Patrol or equivalent related experience.
- Experience in operating handheld PDA (PINFORCE) infringement system.
- Experience in the use of hand held devises.
- Experience in preparing affidavits / statements complying with the various Act / Regulations / Rules that govern the collection, interpretation and presentation of evidence to and in a court of relevant jurisdiction in relation to the Roads Act 1993, Road Transport Act 2013, Road Rules 201
- An understanding of Roads and traffic legislation, in particular the Australian Road Rules.
