About the Organisation


The Australasian Gastro‐Intestinal Trials Group is a leading cancer research organisation conducting vital clinical trial research and testing new treatments for gastro-intestinal cancer.


The GI Cancer Institute is the public face of the organisation and raises awareness and funds for research into gastro-intestinal cancer.


About the role


Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager, the Events Coordinator will be responsible for providing support with planning and delivering high-quality programs of events and activities.

You will work closely with the fundraising, research, and communications teams as well as develop and build strong relationships with external contractors and suppliers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prepare all internal activities and be the key point of contact with organisers for the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM)
  • Plan and execute educational programs and workshops including (preparation, budgets, negotiating contracts, catering, autovisual equipment, and postevent surveys)
  • Support the coordination of fundraising events and webinars
  • Provide support for internal meetings including the Annual General Meeting

About you

enthusiastic and can-do attitude with a high level of attention to detail. You will be a collaborative team player that has a passion for events.

  • Excellent time management/coordination be able to balance and prioritise competing projects and deadlines
  • Proven experience in event management
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe, PowerPoint and Excel
