  • Fulltime, continuing position
  • Salary Band: $104,143 $117,307 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About You


You are an experienced library professional with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to easily build relationships at all levels of an organisation.

You are highly organised, strategic and detail-oriented, and you view challenges as opportunities for improvement, through logical, creative, and innovative thinking.


About the Role

Reporting to the Manager:

Access and Discovery, you will provide expertise and leadership for the evaluation, procurement, development and implementation of the Library's access and discovery services, systems and processes to ensure the optimised use of Library resources.


About the Library


The University of South Australia Library support the University's teaching learning and research mission through provision of relevant information resources and associated services.

The Library also coordinates copyright for the University.

There are five campus libraries, located at City East, City West, Magill, Mawson Lakes, Mt Gambier and Whyalla as well as the Off-Campus Library Service.

Information technology and information resource management services are on the Mawson Lakes campus.

The Library has a growing research collection with over 700,000 eBooks and online journals, as well as special archival collections.


The Library is operating in an environment of increasing availability of digital information and demand and plays a significant role in training staff and students in information skills.


The University has adopted a Digital Library Strategy to accelerate the acquisition of books in digital format and has adopted a next generation Library Management System as part of its commitment to making information resources accessible to the University community 24x7.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications and extensive experience, or an equivalent combination of significant experience, skills and knowledge in an academic or Library environment
  • High level experience in overseeing the evaluation, design and implementation of integrated Library, Learning or Information Management systems
  • Extensive experience in leading a service delivery team, including the development, implementation and continuous improvement of work practices and procedures
  • Significant project management experience as demonstrated by leading large projects
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills including the demonstrated ability to liaise with senior academic, research and educational support staff in the University
