Health Coordinator
It's not every day you have the opportunity to be involved in the start-up of a new mineTo make your mark
and be there from the beginning. Well here is that long-awaited, unique opportunity to do just that - a
Greenfield mine in the Hunter Valley with all the associated excitement of building and being part of
something new.

The
Maxwell Underground Project, owned by
Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced construction with
produce planned of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets
high quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.

Reporting to the Health Safety Environment and Community Manager, the role will primarily be responsible
for providing health related advice and support to operations.


Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

As the Health Coordinator, some of the duties will include:

  • Managing workers compensation and return to work programs.
  • Developing and implementing proactive health initiatives and fitness for work programs.
  • Developing and implementing site hygiene monitoring and establishing systems to manage exposure
to industrial hazards.

  • Demonstrating visible leadership across all levels and operations of the company to promote safety
and competency.

  • Provide technical advice and guidance on healthrelated matters.
  • Oversee the development of key health related procedures and plans.
  • Establish effective return to work programs.
  • Case management including liaising with personnel, doctors and health professionals.
  • Provide support and guidance for supervisors in regards to injury management.
  • Establish health initiatives and fitness for work programs.
  • Review preemployment and periodic medicals against site fitness for work requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external insurance and HSEC reporting requirements.
  • Educational programs on how to prevent workplace injuries.
  • Oversee site hygiene monitoring and establish appropriate similar exposure groups.
  • Help develop a safety culture that supports the company's values.

Skills and Experience:


  • At least five years experience in the mining industry
  • At least five years experience in an health role (or equivalent)
  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • Thorough understanding of NSW statutory obligations relevant to Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Certificate in Return to Work Coordination.
  • Experience in worker compensation, injury management and hygiene monitoring in a mining
environment.
